Give

Public libraries are funded by a mix of state and local tax dollars, organizational and individual donations, and grant opportunities. Below are some of the ways you can show your support.

Tax Support

Libraries in Ohio are supported primarily by your state taxes. A percentage of the general revenue of the State of Ohio goes to public libraries. The Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library also has a 1.5 mill continuing levy that was approved by voters in 2020.

Library Fund for Ross County

The Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library has an endowment fund that will slowly build over time and eventually be able to supplement the operating fund of the library or pay for special projects not otherwise funded. Gifts to this fund can be made online through the Chillicothe-Ross Community Foundation, which manages the contributions. All gifts to the Library or the endowment fund are tax deductible.

Kroger Community Rewards Program

The Library is a partner with the Kroger Company in their Community Rewards Program where a portion of your Kroger purchases will be donated to the library.  You must have a Kroger Plus Card and you can enroll online at www.krogercommunityrewards.com and select Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library (#90071) to receive the Kroger Donation.  This is paid by Kroger, not by the customer.

Friends of the Library

Friends of the Library is a support group for the Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library.  It is composed of people who are interested in promoting and helping the Library.

The Friends of the Library support a broad range of activities including author programs, book sales and other events.  They also provide support and refreshments for library programs, provide things not provided for in the library’s budget, and generally try to lend a hand wherever they can.

The Friends’ Board of Trustees meets on the second Monday of each month at 7pm at the Main Library and meetings are open to the public.

Friends of the Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library was organized in 1981 with 19 members, with the goal of raising funds to supplement the library’s budget.  There are now nearly 500 members, and we hope you’ll consider joining!

Put Yourself on the Shelf Program

You can support the library’s purchase of needed books and dedicate them as gifts or tributes to friends, family, business associates or organizations.

Simply fill out the order form (available at any of our locations) and take it along with payment to the Circulation Desk.

You will receive a gift card to give to the honoree, and the book will be identified with a dedication bookplate and placed in circulation for the entire community to enjoy.
