Join us for an evidence-based program that aims to give children with the skills they need to recognize unsafe situations and find a safe adult. This session is for children in 3rd-5th grade.
Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe is an evidence-based child abuse prevention program designed to help children stay safe through age-appropriate lessons from Pre-K through 12th grade. The curriculum covers safety skills related to physical and emotional abuse, neglect, bullying, and cyberbullying, using engaging activities that match different learning styles. It focuses on helping children understand safety in a calm, positive way without creating fear.
For younger age groups, the program emphasizes that keeping children safe is an adult?s responsibility, not the child?s. Lessons introduce simple concepts such as identifying safe adults, understanding personal boundaries, and knowing that private body parts are those covered by a bathing suit. The curriculum avoids sensitive words like ?sex? or ?sexual? at early grade levels, leaving those conversations to parents and caregivers. Instead, children learn safety rules through fun, interactive activities that support confidence and awareness.
Across all grade levels, students learn the same core ideas: everyone deserves to be safe, adults are responsible for protecting children, and there are trusted adults they can go to for help. The five Speak Up Be Safe rules? It?s MY Body, Ask an Adult If I Am Safe, I Have Choices, Tell Someone, and It?s NEVER My Fault?equip children with clear, empowering tools to use in everyday life. The overall goal is to help children recognize unsafe situations and feel comfortable reaching out to a safe adult whenever they need support.
