June 1, 2025 - July 22, 2025 at 12 noon

Preregistration begins Monday, May 18

This summer, we’re encouraging everyone to read daily and complete exciting activities. Set your own reading goal, choose your activities, and earn awesome prizes—including a free book at the halfway point and another when you complete the summer challenge!

Track your progress with our Bookworm Reading Tracker and Beanstack as you complete daily reading goals and/or activities.

How to participate

Bookworm is for all ages!

For each reader, you'll pick one Bookworm Challenge:

  • Read to Me: Birth to starting Kindergarten
  • Independent Readers: Grades K-6
  • Teens: Grades 7-12
  • Adults: Anyone age 18 and up

How to Complete the Challenge

  1. Pick your daily reading goal:  You decide how many minutes you want to read every day.  Don't worry, you can always fill in other activities if there's a day you don't feel like reading.
  2. Track your progress:  Every day that you either reach your reading goal or complete an activity, write that date in one of the circles on the Bookworm Tracker.
  3. Log in Beanstack:  Record your progress online; staff and VolunTeens can help!
  4. Earn rewards:  Get a free tote bag on your first day of Bookworm, and a reward or a coupon after you complete 10, 15, 20, and 30 activities.

Logging

You can track your progress with the Bookworm Reading Tracker, but be sure to log it on Beanstack, too—that’s how you earn prizes! Need help? Stop by any library location, and we’ll be happy to assist you.

You will be able to log your reading and activities starting Monday, June 1, 2026, and all logging must be complete by 12 noon on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Using Beanstack

If you participated in Bookworm last year and have a Beanstack account, you can sign in using your username and password from before. If not, you can sign up for a new account.

You can create either an individual or family account on Beanstack. A family account lets you log things for your whole family without having to log into individual accounts.

Sign into your Beanstack account, and click the red button that says "Log Activities." You will not see this button until June 1, when Bookworm officially starts.

Activities

If you don't feel like reading on a given day, do one of these activities instead!

  • Play outside or visit a park
  • Play a game or put together a puzzle
  • Visit the library or eLibrary
  • Recommend a book or movie to a friend
