How to participate

Bookworm is for all ages!

If you participated in Bookworm last year, or our Winter Reading program in January, you can sign in using your username and password from before. If not, you can sign up for a new account.

You can create either an individual or family account. A family account lets you log things for your whole family without having to log into individual accounts.

For each reader, you'll pick one Bookworm Challenge:

Read to Me: a 3x3 BINGO card for our youngest Bookworms (birth-starting Kindergarten)
Independent Readers: a 4x4 BINGO card for kids who read on their own, though being read to counts too! (grades K-6)
Teens: a 5x5 BINGO card for grades 7-12
Adults: a 5x5 BINGO card for anyone aged 18 and up

Logging

You will be able to log your reading and activities starting June 3, 2024, and all logging must be complete by 12 noon on July 24, 2024.

Sign into your Beanstack account, and click the red button that says "Log Reading and Activities." You will not see this button until June 3, when Bookworm officially starts.

Choose whether you want to log minutes or activities, or start a reading timer. If you use the reading timer in Beanstack, those reading minutes are logged automatically. As you add reading minutes, Beanstack will fill in the reading minutes Bingo squares for you.

Prizes

Read to Me: Log your first Bingo to earn a free book. Fill your whole Bingo card to earn: another free book; a trophy (to be awarded at or after our Bookworm Finale Party at Yoctangee Park on Wednesday, July 24 from 6 to 9 p.m.); a coupon booklet; and an entry into our Grand Prize drawing for a Learning Toys Prize Pack!
Independent Readers: Log your first Bingo to earn a free book. Fill your whole Bingo card to earn: another free book; a trophy (to be awarded at or after our Bookworm Finale Party at Yoctangee Park on Wednesday, July 24 from 6 to 9 p.m.); a coupon booklet; an entry into our Grand Prize drawing for a Nintendo Switch Lite; and an entry into the Grand Prize drawing for a Bicycle, sponsored by Adena Health System!
Teens: Log your first Bingo to earn a free book. Fill your whole Bingo card to earn: another free book; a coupon booklet; an entry into our Grand Prize drawing for an Audio Prize Pack, including a Bluetooth speaker, loop engage earplugs, and bookish sticker set!
Adults: Log your first Bingo to earn an entry into one of 8 drawings for a reading prize pack. Fill your whole Bingo card to earn a coupon booklet and an entry into our Grand Prize drawing for a Kindle Paperwhite and a bookish sticker set!

Patrons must have a phone number on their Beanstack account in order to receive the Grand Prize.

You must visit the library to pick up your prizes. Prizes cannot be mailed. Trophies and Grand Prizes will be awarded at the Bookworm Finale Party. To qualify for prizes, readers must be Ohio residents.

Bookworm Book Recommendations

Find books to fulfill your Bookworm Reading Challenge in the library’s online catalog, or dive into eBooks and audiobooks from hoopla, the Ohio Digital Library, Comics Plus, or National Geographic for Kids. If you need a library card, you can register for one online.
