The Library Board of Trustees is accepting applications for a student member.

Be a Leader: Student Trustee

The application deadline is Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Ross County students in grade 10 or higher are welcome to apply.

Gain a powerful educational experience that encourages you to be more engaged and connected to your community and its resources. Plus, it looks pretty good on a resume or college application!

The purpose of the Student Trustee is:

  • To serve as a non-voting advisory member of the CRCPL Board of Trustees;
  • To provide insight to and support of topics of interest to the Board;
  • To build a connection between the CRCPL Board of Trustees and the youth in the communities;
  • To serve as a liaison between the library and the school districts it serves;
  • To provide more diverse input into the development and direction of CRCPL;
  • To gain experience by serving on a volunteer board.

The Student Trustee must be:

  • An eligible high school student in grade 10 or higher who lives in Ross County;
  • In good academic standing and remain so during the tenure of the Board term;
  • A current CRCPL card holder in good standing;
  • Able and willing to attend monthly Board meetings, typically the second Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Main Library Annex;
  • Interested in the process of governing with a willingness to participate in decision-making conversations;
  • Able to convey personal opinions and those of the general student population;
  • Able to adhere to all the rules and regulations pertaining to Board membership;
  • Appropriately dressed for Board meetings;
  • Able to fulfill the duties expected of any Board members, including participating on committees and attending special meetings and events when appropriate.

The student trustee is an advisory position. Students are not eligible to vote or make motions. The student trustee may be removed and replaced at the discretion of the board for failure to attend meetings, failure to maintain academic standards, or for behavior unbecoming of a representative of the library.

The student trustee is a one year appointment with the option of continuing a second year if the trustee is still enrolled in high school.

Students interested in applying must submit a completed application and supporting documentation no later than September 7, 2025. Applications will be reviewed by the Board of Trustees and library administration.
