2023 Contest for Young Poets

The Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library is celebrating National Poetry Month in April! We are inviting K-12 students throughout Ross County to submit one original, unpublished poem anytime between now and Friday, March 17, 2023.

Selected poems will be published in our annual poetry anthology and some art pieces may be chosen for display at our Northside Branch location.

Judges choose winners from each of the following grade levels:

  • K - 2nd grades
  • 3rd - 5th grades
  • 6th - 8th grades
  • 9th - 12th grades

Winners receive a free copy of the anthology, as well as an invitation to read their work at our Poetry Reception on Tuesday, April 25 at 5:30 pm!

A reception will be hosted in the Northside Myers Meeting Room at 550 Buckeye Street in Chillicothe. 

Additional copies of the anthology are available for purchase.
