Learn about the history of boba (bubble) tea, have a tea tasting, and make a boba tea craft.
Boba(Bubble) milk tea is an iced tea drink that originated from Taiwan in the late 1980s. It has exploded in popularity since and is also known as pearl milk tea or bubble milk tea. Depending on the region, you can find it in several local stores all over Ohio.
Boba milk tea generally consists of some kind of sweetened tea, ice, milk or creamer, and boba, also known as tapioca pearls. Tapioca is made from a starch extracted from the cassava root. Boba milk tea has expanded now to many different flavors and toppings, including egg pudding, Adzuki red bean, and jellies. You will typically drink your milk tea with a wide straw or a spoon.
Because the small boba pearls can be a choking hazard, it is not recommended for young children.
